Projects Overview

Overview #

A Project is used to group related workflows together within an environment. It can be thought of as a logical container or folder that helps organise workflows based on a business function, integration solution, customer, or application.

Projects provide a way to manage shared configuration and reduce duplication across multiple workflows. Any workflow created within a project can inherit configuration settings defined at the project level, ensuring consistency and simplifying maintenance.

Project Configurations #

A Project can have two key configuration items associated with it Project Variables and Exception Strategies.

Variables #

Project Variables can be referenced by any workflow contained within the project. They are commonly used to store shared values or other reusable parameters that may be required across multiple workflows. For more information on Project Variables and how to configure them go here: Project Variables

Exception Strategies #

Exception Strategies can be defined at the project level and inherited by any workflow within the project. This allows a common approach to error handling, notification, logging, and recovery actions to be applied consistently across related workflows. For more information on Exception Strategies and how to configure them go here: Exception Strategies

By centralising these Project Variables & Exception Strategies at the project level, administrators can make changes in a single location rather than updating each workflow individually, improving maintainability and reducing configuration overhead.

To understand more about Project Variables and Exception Strategies see the documentation. When working with Variables and Exception Strategies it is also important to understand the Order of importance so you understand how settings you have set at the Environmental, Project and Workflow level will affect a given Workflow :
